PULSAR IPL

pulsar 3

The Pulsar Intense Pulsed Light System was developed and is currently manufacturerd in the UK. Pulsar uses a novel pulse system that delivers controlled energy to the skin. The light beam passes through removable filters that modify the pulses according to the desired application. Pulsar is gentle to your skin (the uniform energy release across a wide application area results in considerably reduced risk of skin burn) - laser side effects eliminated, cheaper (fewer treatments because of larger area of the application head), versatile (removable light filters) The Pulsar Intense Pulsed Light system is rated as one of the worlds leading systems and is clinically proven to offer you effective, virtually pain-free, quicker and longer lasting results.

SKIN TYPES

In 1975, Thomas B. Fitzgerald, MD, PhD, of Harvard Medical School, developed a classification system for skin typing. This system was based on a person's complexion & responses to sun exposure. Today, this classification system is also used to aid practitioners in the care of their patients. For successful laser and light therapy, it is necessary to determine your correct skin type.

1 Never tans, always burns Albinos and very light blonds
Treatment can be without test 2 Burns and sometimes tans
3 Always tans
4 Light Asian
Treatment can be without test 5 Dark Asian
6 Afro-Caribbean/td>
Skin types with bluish pigmentation are NOT to be treated

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR HAIR REDUCTION TREATMENT?

Hairs should be 1-2mm long when you come for treatment so please shave just before treatment - this ensures maximum transmision of the energy. Long hairs take up the energy & prevent all of it reaching the hair follicle. If the hair is normally shaved & can be seen when shaven it is possible to shave right up to the day of treatment.

BUT epilating, plucking, waxing, threading, chemical depilation & bleaching should NOT be done - if this is your normal method of hair removal please refrain from doing this for FOUR weeks before your first appointment as this ensures as many follicles as possible contain a hair & thus can be destroyed by the light.

Please avoid tanning (& self-tan) ONE month ahead of & during the entire treatment scenario to avoid excessive discomfort from excessive light absorption in the epidermis. Immediately after treatment the skin is particularly sensitive to UV light & strong sunlight should be avoided for FOUR weeks & sun block should be used during this period (recommend Environ's RAD £16.00 available to buy at your appointment). On the day of treatment please do not apply deodorant, perfumed products or aromatherapy treatments to the area.

AFTER CARE TREATMENT

Keep the area free from deodorants (recommended Australian Bodycare Teatree deodorant which is aluminium-free £7.50 for 65ml - available at your appointment), make-up, aromatherapy oils or perfumed products for 24 hours.

Raised or dark moles - will be covered for protection &/or avoided during treatment.

Pulsar IPL Hair Reduction

Pulsar rejuvenises ageing/sun damaged skin

Smooths out gentle wrinkles
Unifies complexion hue
Reduces pore size
Improves skin flexibility

The following treatments are only available on skin types 1, 2 & light 3 (see table above for skin types) & with NO TAN.

Photo Rejuvenation - Collagen stimulation

Photo Rejuvenation is the process of removing sun damage, stimulating new cell growth and increasing collagen production. Typically the treatment will reduce the skins age by 2 years per session hence 5 sessions can give up to a visual reduction of 10 years in the skins texture and tone. Normally 3-5 treatments are required at 3 weekly intervals. Three weeks is considered the period to achieve peak levels of collagen production following treatment.

Results are accumulative, however, with no down-time or after effects, a customer may wish to have a one off Intense Pulsed Light treatment to freshen their skin for an important event. One whole face can be treated in 30 minutes. Periodic refreshers may be required 6 months after the initial course.

Success of the treatment varies according to the individual. However the better the diet and lifestyle of the individual and the greater care they take of their skin, the better the result.

Rosacea, Vein and Vascular Treatment

Pulsar Intense Pulsed Light offers the perfect solution to broken facial veins and rosacea. The Intense Pulsed Light is absorbed into the targeted blood vessels causing them to coagulate and break down. There is little or no down time making it the perfect treatment to have in a lunch hour. Typically 3-4 sessions are required.

Rosacea is a chronic condition, Pulsar Intense Pulsed Light is an excellent aid to reduce and relieve effects. The treatment is quick and relatively pain free, your therapist will advise you of after care to help maintain your results. Typically you need 2 – 4 sessions to reduce the redness and you may have to maintain the reduction at intervals as the rosacea is an underlying condition.

However if you work out your own personal triggers these maintenance sessions may not be needed or the results can be prolonged. In research notes it appears that this condition lasts between 8 – 13 years.

Pigmentation

Age spots & Freckles
Inconsistency in melanocytes will give patches of pigmentation that are darker to the ambient skin. These patches of pigment can be treated without affecting the ambient skin colour. The light is absorbed in to these patches and the melanocytes are caused to shatter, they break up and dissipate over a period of time.
